Are all transactions
done through BillDesk safe?
The security and confidentiality of your personal and financial
information is of paramount importance to us. You are provided with
best-in-class security standards when it comes to using the BillDesk
service so that your transactions done through BillDesk are safe.
To prevent unauthorized access, maintain data accuracy, and ensure
the appropriate use of information, BillDesk has put in place appropriate
physical, electronic, and managerial procedures to safeguard and
secure all personal information that BillDesk collects online. Keeping
in mind some of the common security considerations, we list below
some of the key control measures that BillDesk has taken:
Allow only authorized access to BillDesk web site
BillDesk has implemented a state-of-the-art security system requiring
a Login ID and a complex password to access your account information.
Only you can access your account information. BillDesk is secured
using Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) encryption. This ensures that your
account numbers and personal data are never sent over the Internet
unencrypted.
Protect data during transmission
All online information exchange between you and BillDesk through
the Internet is encrypted. Unlike normal Internet communication,
information provided to us at BillDesk is sent in a "secure session"
established with SSL technology. SSL is a security protocol that
provides data encryption, server authentication, and message integrity
for a connection to the Internet. Using SSL ensures that the information
you exchange with BillDesk is never transmitted over the Internet
unencrypted and cannot be viewed by unauthorized individuals. BillDesk
uses SSL to protect customers from unauthorized tampering or viewing
of their account and billing information. This encryption is done
using 128-bit RC4 encryption, the maximum level of encryption possible
on the Internet comparable to security levels used by financial
institutions.
Likewise, when we are interacting with the clearing house (RBI)
and the banks and your billers/payees, we encrypt the data so that
it is protected during transmission.
Protect data during storage
Your data resides in the BillDesk database and is protected by a
physical firewall. This firewall is configured to receive and process
requests only from authorized personnel. It can also detect any
unauthorized activity around the BillDesk server. Further, some
of the highly critical information such as your password, secret
question, secret answer, etc is stored in the database in a hashed
format, thereby preventing misuse of data even by any remote possibility.
Regular back-ups are taken of the data so that appropriate recovery
measures can be initiated of the latest information if there are
any hardware problems.
Prudent risk management practices
In addition to hardware and software control measures, the internal
processes within BillDesk are designed to identify flaws or breaches.
These are in the form of different management and reporting controls
that are embedded in the processes for customer registration, customer
care, biller integration, etc.
